A Prediction

Hear ye, hear ye.  Let it be known that R. Marcus predicts the following:

Within the next few years, there will be a Kate boom.  In other words, many people will be naming their baby girls Kate.

And Jenny agrees.
(Though I think read somewhere Kate's full name is Catherine Elizabeth.)

And I so love that name, and now, it will be ruined by trendiness.  But can the name Kate really ever be ruined?  I guess we couldn't really ever have a Kate anyway.  Samantha, Callie, Kate.  Too many "ka" sounds?

Anyway, I'm quite excited for their little wedding.  I remember watcing Princess Diana walk down the aisle.  I sat in our family room watching the entire thing.  I think I was 8 or 9.  It was so magical to me.  So, yes, I'm cheesey enough to not only be excited about this wedding, but to create a blog post about it.

ohmigosh, i'm so glad you did! i don't remember diana's wedding and so this is my first real experience watching it and i'm SUPER excited, which is ridiculous because i've barely followed their lives until recently. but how fun and fairy tale is that? common girl becomes a princess?

and i do like kate, and i think you can still do it. :)

You could totally use Kate. Maybe even Katelyn? :) They'd still all have different initials.

i hate when names i love suddenly become popular. katelyn is a fav name of mine and has been for probably 20 years. it sounds HORRIBLE with layton, so i had kind of just settled on kate.

ugh.

I remember Diana's wedding well. I missed the main part b/c an old boyfriend who had moved away and was visting knocked on the door. I didn't know it was him but I had a premonition and tossed my glasses onto the table behind the door (the one that's still there). In spite of my blindness, I recognized him anyway--even though he lived states away and I had no reason to expect him at my door. And, I agree, Kate is a classic name that will always be lovely, no matter what. Sammie, Callie, Katie, it fits. If you get a boy next, you can name him Kato. (hee hee)

I have a feeling your prediction is right...so I just want to have it on record that our baby Kate (who just turned a month old today!) was named before the big fad, and we loved the name along time ago. When I had Grace her name was between Grace and Kate. Just want to make sure we don't end up in the same category as the "trendy" crowd when it comes to naming our children:)

I bet you're right about that one! I like the name Kate too, although the mom from Jon & Kate plus 8 kind of put a damper on it for me.
Princess Kate is gonna push that name up the charts for sure.
